Bonding
Bonding is the alternative option to having veneers. It
can be used to improve the appearance of a chipped,
stained, or cracked tooth. The advantage of bonding is
that it  usually takes one office visit to complete. The
tooth is coated with a bonding liquid that the dentist
molds into the shape of the complete tooth. When
ready, the set liquid is tripped and polished to look like
a natural tooth. However, the disadvantage of bonding is
that the resin is not as strong as veneers, and can chip
or crack more easily. Also, the resin has been found to
absorb stains more easily than veneers and natural teeth.
An average bonded tooth usually lasts 3-5 years.
